OOTD: Green Hawaiian Shirt & Bumper Bangs

bumper bangs 02

Hawaiian and Polynesian inspired prints became very popular during the mid century in the United States. Men and women both indulged in the trend and it has come back in style almost every decade since. This summer Hawaiian shirts were super on trend and I really enjoyed observing how different people styled them.

I have been wearing Hawaiian Shirts a lot in the past three years or so and all of them were found at thrift stores for under $8.00 each.  I normally wear them with high waisted jeans, shorts or with a mono-color dress in place of a shawl or light cardigan. In these photos I am wearing my favorite green Hawaiian shirt. I have some other green ones but this one is my favorite. Green is one of my favorite colors and can be matched with almost anything and the simple white flower print on this one makes it VERY versatile. If you are in to sustainable fashion like I am then you know that VERSATILITY IS QUEEN.  I styled my hair using the  bumper bang technique because I wanted to give the look a feminine 1940’s/1950’s vibe. That’s why I also added the flower and accessorized with cat eye sunglasses and wing tips.

OOTD: Nasty Gal Dazed Chambray Dress

nastygal dazed chambray dress

Last month Nasty Gal was having a 25% store wide sale so I bought a few dresses and some tops from the clearance section to double my savings. This dress is one of the items I bought from the sale. It was marked down to $20.00 from $58.00. It’s called the Dazed Chambray Dress and there are still a few left on the site except the price has gone up to $43.50. Still a deal in my opinion. It’s comfortable, sexy and flattering all at once.

Cat eye sunglasses, shoes and necklace are from May Max a discount clothing chain that I’m obsessed with. They are based in the San Fernando Valley. If you are local and are looking for affordable work staples or trendy clothes this place is for you. The cuff is thrift-ed and the cardigan is Hurley.

Musician Monday: Saxon, Fozzy and Stonebreed

Faux Leather Skirt May Max

The Saturday before last was my birthday and I spent the day in Corona, California. My boyfriend planned the trip out there a few months ago when he found out that Saxon was performing  at Metal Fest along with Stonebreed, Fozzy, and a handful of other metal bands.

The event was held at the M15 Concert Bar and Grill. The drinks are a decent price and the food is pretty good too. Also, they have live bands playing there almost every week. Usually they are of the classic rock, punk or metal genres but in November DJ Quick will be performing. (Random, yet awesome.)

My bf and I with Stonebreed’s vocalist Carlos Cruz . Unfortunately we missed their set due to the difficulty we experienced finding lodgings in Corona. However, they will be appearing at the Whisky A Go-Go on New Year’s Eve so I’m hoping to make that show.

Chris Jericho performing with Fozzy. Easily one of the most energetic acts of the night.

Saxon, the headliners  closed the show. They played many of their classics as well as new material that the crowd seemed to really enjoy.
