Sometimes I bump in to trends unintentionally. It usually happens when I’m wandering around the mall aimlessly and something in the window catches my eye. Other times I spot a trend I like and hunt for a reasonably priced take on the trend for ages until I find the (usually overly trendy) garment at my desired price point. That wasn’t really the case with this suspender skirt. A few weeks ago I went to the Burbank Town Center to “pick up some essentials” when I walked by a small trendy boutique called Fashion Nova.
The window display really caught my eye since their clothes are so similar to what Nasty Gal sells, whose inventory I am head over heels in love with. I tried on quite a few items at Fashion Nova but eventually decided on this faux-leather suspender skirt which cost less than $18.00. I wore it to my first appointment with Karen Rivera, my new Bettie Bang Guru. You can read more about her here.
Didn’t Karen do an awesome job trimming and reshaping my Bettie Bangs?
The skirt may have been a bargain but the quality is awful. I got a tiny bit of water on it and some of the color faded! I may give Fashion Nova another try though in case it was a fluke, their prices are pretty hard to beat and they really have that Nasty Gal vibe!
